LET'S GET STARTED!

To book your quilt, fill out the form below. I'll send a quote for your approval, and then we'll get your quilt in the lineup for quilting.

BUT FIRST...WE PREP:

Measure up!

Lay out your quilt top. Verify the width and length of your quilt top so you can size your backing properly and complete your booking form accurately.

Examine your quilt top- inspect for wavy borders! They can cause puckers or pleats. While I will always do my best to work in extra fabric while quilting, tending to wavy borders at home is the best scenario.

Got your back(ing)?

In order to load your quilt on the machine, your backing must be 5" longer, at minimum, on all sides of the quilt top (10" wider and 10" longer than your quilt top).

Example:

With a 60" x 80" quilt top, your backing should measure 70" x 90". It can be bigger, but not smaller.

Running short? Contact me! We can troubleshoot in advance to find a solution.

Your backing should be flat and square. Wonky backing can lead to challenges with achieving the final result you've envisioned.

Service fees may apply if work is required to address a backing that is not sized properly.

Trim & Press!

Be sure to clip stray threads or raveling fabrics. This will prevent darker threads from showing through and will prevent the longarm needle and thread from getting caught up in thread tails. Don't skip this important step!

Pressing is the most important thing you can do in preparation for your quilt to be loaded onto the longarm.

Carefully examine the front of your quilt top- press so that there is no fabric overlapping at the seams. This is also a good time to inspect that no seams have come unsewn, leaving a hole between blocks or block pieces.

Inspect the back of your quilt top- press seams and points as flat as you can to reduce bulk. This will enhance the finished product!

Even if you are shipping a quilt for longarming, pressing to prep your seams still matters. The creases from a temporary stay in a shipping box will fall easily once the quilt top is unboxed.

Quilting Design & Thread Selection

Pick your panto! If you know which pantograph design you'd like, indicate that on your quilt booking form. You also have the option of having me select the design and thread choice for you. There's a section on the form for you to explore this option and share your ideas to help me choose.

No need to baste!

If you've quilted on a domestic machine, you may have basted your quilt sandwich with pins or spray adhesive. When using a longarm service, you get to avoid this step! You give us your quilt top and backing fabric. We'll add the batting you've selected, and take care of the basting for you.
